DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE PERMISSIVE ACTION LINK FOR THE SERGEANT MISSILE.

Abstract

A summary is given of the research and development work performed on the assemblies, adaption kit rework tools, and procedures required to adapt a Permissive Action Link (PAL) to the XM91 Adaption Kit. The Assemblies include the T4182 Test Adapter Cable, the 7W3 Case Adapter Cable, and the associated hardware to attach these cable assemblies to the adaption kit. Rework equipment consists of the fixture, cutting tool and associated tools. Test Adapter Cable T4182 electrically connects the adaption kit to the external PAL equipment. The 7W3 Case Adapter Cable electrically connects the adaption kit to a connector on the container when the adaption kit is encased in the XM481 Container. Hardware items consist of a housing, a cover, and attachment bolts. The rework tools and equipment allow retrofit of XM116 Trainer Adaption Kits and XM91 Adaption Kits in the field with the PAL installation. Ten T4182 Adapter Cables, one 7W3 Cable, ten hardware assemblies, and one retrofit tool kit were built and tested during the R and D program. (Author)
