MACHINE RECOGNITION OF MANDARIN MONOSYLLABLE.

Abstract

Research is discussed toward the construction of a phonological description containing two highly interrelated types of information: (1) the base forms of the morphemes of the language in distinctive feature representation, and (2) a partially-ordered set of phonological rules, which give physical interpretations (physiological and/or acoustic) to these base forms as they occur in syntactic contexts.
