DIELECTRIC PARAMETERS AND EQUIVALENT CIRCUITS.
Abstract
This report is an introduction to dielectric measurements as a spectroscopy tool. Equivalent electrical circuits are used to simulate the frequency response of materials. A number of frequency plots are presented with various param eters used by engineers and optical spectroscopists. Examples show differences between materials having two relaxation processes or a distribution of relaxation times and between materials having a damped vibration spectrum or a relaxation spectrum. Using the relations between the parts of a complex parameter, a useful limit is given for the change in dielectric constant with frequency. (Author)
