IRREVERSIBLE STATISTICAL MECHANICS OF CLASSICAL SYSTEMS.

Abstract

The Bogolyubov theory is shown to be completely contained in the Prigogine-Resibois general theory. There is no question of an overlapping area common to both, outside of which sometimes the Prigogine-Resibois theory is valid and sometimes the Bogolyubov theory. Wherever the Bogolyubov theory is applicable, so is the PrigogineResibois theory, but not conversely. This provides a tool for a precise evaluation of the limits of validity of the resulting kinetic equations in mathematical terms; whenever the RHO' part of Fourier coefficients can be neglected, whenever the time integrals can be asymptotically evaluated, the Markovian equations are valid and therefore the error committed can be in principle evaluated by quantitatively estimating the neglected quantities which are well-defined within the framework of the Prigogine-Resibois theory.
