ON THE ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION OF METEOROLOGICAL FIELDS.

Abstract

An attempt is made to describe the weather in terms of stochastic processes and related concepts. Some of the possible descriptive statistical techniques applicable to meteorological forecasting are surveyed. Examples of the formulation of stochastic models are presented. Finally, the problem of predicting random fields from incomplete information is discussed.
