VISCOELASTIC PROPERTIES OF MONODISPERSE POLYSTYRENE.

Abstract

The viscoelastic properties of five monodisperse polymer samples of polystyrene ranging in molecular weight between 80,000 and 270,000 were studied and accurate values of Eta sub t, J sub e, tau sub m, and E sub m were obtained. It is shown that the dependence on molecular weight of these quantities is very different from that predicted by the Rouse-Bueche Theory or by the Ferry Landel Williams modification of this theory.
