ORGANIC SEMICONDUCTOR DEVELOPMENT.
Abstract
The organic semiconducting materials magnesium-bis (4, 4'-dipyridyl) and 4-isonitrilothioanisole were synthesized. A satisfactory method of preparing and purifying the unstable 4-isonitrilothioanisole was established. Preliminary conduc tivity measurements were carried out on the synthesized materials, two carbene dimers, and certain derivatives of the carbenes. It was found that these materials exhibit significant conductivity properties. The unstable isonitrile undergoes a reaction at room temperature giving what is thought to be a low polymer of the isonitrile. This material exhibits a strong EPR spectrum. A new type of electrical conductivity cell was designed and used for all conductivity measurements. (Author)
