FINAL REPORT NUCLEAR SPECTROSCOPY .

Abstract

Information about the structure of the nuclei of atoms and the nature of basic nuclear forces is recorded in a series of reports covering the period 1 March 1946 to 31 March 1955. Measurements were carried out on various phenomena asso ciated with radioactive decay of isotopes produced either by bombardment in the cyclotron or in a nuclear reactor. The investigations involved: (1) the determination of decay schemes and energy level assignments; (2) studies of the detailed shapes of beta spectra in both allowed and forbidden transitions; and (3) beta-gamma angular correlation measurements. A list of 63 publications supporting the results of these investigations is included in the final report together with the names and thesis titles of graduate scientific personnel associated with the experiments.
