LOW-LEVEL, FINE-SCALE WIND DETERMINATION BY CAPTIVE BALLOONS,

Abstract

A flexible, inexpensive micrometeorological network using captive balloons is described. Captive balloon anemometry is compared to pibal and tower methods of measuring winds aloft. Correlation coefficients are computed between measurements made using four captive balloons and a 50-ft tower. (Author)
