A SUMMARY OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF PROCEDURES FOR LABORATORY MARINE-FOULING STUDIES, PART 2

Abstract

The development of procedures for the rearing of barnacles in the laboratory and for the study of the settlement of these barnacles upon test surfaces under completely controlled conditions is discussed. Categories include: development of procedures for maintaining and feeding juvenile barnacles in the laboratory; design of special equipment and techniques which are required for laboratory fouling methodology; and rearing of juvenile barnacles from embryo through successive naupliar and cyprid stages.
