RESISTOMETRIC INVESTIGATION OF PRE-PRECIPITATION IN THE A1-MG 5% ALLOY.

Abstract

The pre-precipitation process in the supersaturated Al-5.1% at.% Mg alloy has been extensively investigated by means of electrical resistivity measurements performed at liquid nitrogen temperature (-195C). As known, where as the process cannot be discovered in Al-Mg alloys by the usual X-ray low angle method it is possible to detect it by resistivity measurements, since during the beginning of the process resistivity undergoes an increase which can be easily separated from other recovery processes.
