FIBER-REINFORCED METALS AND ALLOYS.

Abstract

The basic objective of the program is to investigate the fundamental factors affecting the fiber reinforcement of metals and alloys. The ultimate objective is to develop new materials possessing high strength-to-weight ratios. The effort on this program is divided into two parts-- one part devoted to the study of fundamental factors affecting the fiber reinforcement of metals, and the other part devoted to the development of new fibers with high strength and high modulus. The majority of the effort is concentrated upon the first part.
