THE USE OF A KNOCK-OFF TUBE AS A QUICK PRESSURE-RELEASE MECHANISM,

Abstract

An analysis of the use of a knock-off tube as a quick pressure-release mechanism for a piezoelectric gage calibration system is presented. This system is capable of developing pressures up to 50,000 psi in a closed oil filled chamber. An equation relating the pressure-release time to the initial conditions of the calibration system was derived and verified for select choices of initial conditions that are compatible with requirements of the NOL reactorvessel containment program.
