CASTABLE CARBON FOR NOZZLE APPLICATIONS.

Abstract

The effects of changes in castable carbon binder content, filler solids composition, and fabrication techniques were investigated. Visual examination, mechanical testing, and thermal testing were used to judge the quality of test pieces. The first sub-scale nozzle was designed and partially fabricated. Castable carbon material will be used in the entrance section, as the insert back-up insulation, and in the exit cone region. (Author)
