Abstract

Reaction of dimethylchlorosilane with 3, 4, 4 Trifluoro4-bromo-3-chlorobutene-1 on a 0.5 mol scale at 75 deg C. in the presence of chloroplatinic acid catalyst provided a 44% conversion to the adduct, C1-Si(CH3)2CH2 CH2 CFC1CF2Br. Repetition of the reaction on a 5 mol scale was started and the product obtained will be hydrolyzed and dehalogenated to form the desired disiloxane monomer, (CF2= CFCH2CH2Si(CH3)2)2-O-.
