PARTICLE SIZE ANALYZER INSTRUCTION MANUAL For Army Chemical Corps Biological Labs., Fort Detrick, MD

Abstract

This manual presents operation, calibration and maintenance procedures for six particle size analyzers. The instruments are composed of two housings, one containing a dual photometer with regulator and preamplifier circuits, and the other containing power supplies and pulse height analyzing circuits. Each instrument is provided with a plywood carrying case, which also contains a weather station house and collapsible legs for conversion to an all- weather operating stand. The photometers and analyzers are numbered P-1 through P-6 and A-1 through A-6, respectively, and are suitable for use in any combination. However, a given combination must be calibrated for particle size as a unit. The analyzers are designed to operate from external 6-volt batteries and to read out into four dual-channel Esterline-Angus Model 602 recorders.
