DYNAMIC NON-LINEAR WAVE PROPAGATION IN IONIZED MEDIA. 13. MICROSCOPIC TREATMENT OF THE INTERACTION BETWEEN A PLANE ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVE AND AN OSCILLATING MEDIUM,

Abstract

The interaction between an electromagnetic wave and an oscillating dielectric medium is studied from a microscopic point of view. Modifications of the Lorentz-Lorenz formula and the Oseen extinction theorem are discussed. The diffraction conditions at a plane boundary are considered and the effect of a drifting disturbance is taken into account. (Author)
