TWO TESTS TO MEASURE EXPLOITATIVE AND ACCOMMODATIVE STRATEGY.

Abstract

An exploratory study was conducted to examine the possibility of assessing tendencies to express attitudes hypothesized to be accommodative and exploitative in typical competitive situations. The characteristics in question are based upon a series of experiments with triads, in which power-relationships among the members were varied. An objective (multiple-choice) instrument of 12 items was devised, in which statements were prepared to cover the just-mentioned characteristics. Similarly, a semi-projective test, modeled after the French Test of Insight, of 14 items, was developed. A pilot reliability study on those Ss for whom retests were available produced satisfactory results. Using behavorial measures from the Board and Quiz games, a considerable number of significant correlations with test scores were found, for both sexes, especially in the Board Game, and especially for the objective tests.
