THE MAGNETIC ENTROPY OF ALPHA MANGANESE,

Abstract

A separation of the magnetic contribution from the total specific heat has been made, using an experimentally determined (X-ray diffraction) value of the Debye characteristic temperature to obtain the lattice specific heat of alpha manganese. The magnetic entropy was found to be approximately 25 percent of the accepted value. (Author)
