PROPOSED ASTM METHOD FOR THE DETERMINATION OF CARBON DIOXIDE IN WATERFORMED DEPOSITS, EVALUATION OF.

Abstract

A proposed ASTM method for the determination of carbon dioxide (CO2) in water-formed deposits, evaluated to determine its applicability for a standard method, appears to be more precise but may be less accurate than the method currently used in the Marine Engineering Laboratory. The principle of the proposed method is as follows: acid is reacted with the sample and the loss in weight of the assembled apparatus, including the sample and reagents, is assumed to correspond to complete evolution of the carbon dioxide in the sample.
