COHERENT LIGHT-RECORDING TECHNIQUES,

Abstract

The contract objective is the development of coherent light-recording techniques to achieve high packing densities in excess of 10 to the 10th power bits per square inch, or 10 to the 7th power cycles per square inch, based on 10 micron line spacing, with sufficient beam energy to drive the recording media to saturation. Media to be investigated are photographic and thermoplastic films. Research results for the first quarterly period of this contract are reported. The study extends towards theoretical evaluation of the minimum obtainable bit size on photographic film, and the experimental verification of the theoretical prediction. (Author)
