MICROWAVE-OPTICAL EXPERIMENTS AND PSEUDOSTARK EFFECT IN RUBY,

Abstract

A quantitative investigation of the absorption among the Zeeman components of the R-and B-lines was undertaken. A study was made on the optical detection of the microwave resonances in the ground state. These experiments have now been carried out and are reported on here. The effect of an applied electric field on the R-lines was measured. The influence of an electric field on the B-lines was observed and the results are presented.
