THE DIFFRACTION OF LIGHT BY SOUND.

Abstract

The mathematical theory of the diffraction of electromagnetic waves by acoustic waves is fully developed from basic physical principles; earlier work of other authors on the subject is incorporated into the framework, and the analytical development of the theory has been greatly extended. The viewpoints of both quantum mechanics and classical mechanics have been synthesized to suggest analytical insights into the problem. (Author)
