PLASMA WAVES,

Abstract

The macroscopic theory for a fully ionized gas is presented. A common treatment is given covering certain phenomena of current interest. The equations describing a plasma are derived and are shown to include many of the phenomena long familiar to scientists. Among the phenomena treated are: sound waves, plasma oscillations, acoustical damping, magneto-ionic theory, Friedrichs' waves, and cold, collisionless plasma. (Author)
