SPECTRA AND ENERGY LEVELS OF EU(3+) IN Y2O3.

Abstract

The absorption and fluorescence spectra of Eu(3+) in single crystals of Y2O3 were observed and analyzed. The intermediate-coupling free-ion energy levels for Eu(3+), including the effects of the 46 singlet states, are presented for all levels appearing below 41,000 cm(-1). The results obtained by including the singlet states in the free-ion energy level calculations are discussed. (Author)
