AN ITERATIVE METHOD OF COMPUTING THE Q-FUNCTION,

Abstract

Interpolation of tables to obtain accurate (e.g., 1 part in 10000) estimates of the Q-function is difficult, and in machine computations involving the Q-function, requires the storage of Q values at closely spaced grid points, interpolation using higher order polynomials for curve fitting, or a combination of the two. An iterative procedure is described which is well suited for rapid machine computation of the Q-function. (Author)
