ANALYSIS OF CONTROL-DISPLAY LIMITATIONS IN MULTI-JET TRANSPORT AIRCRAFT.

Abstract

A survey of operational problems encountered in both commercial and military multi-jet transport aircraft has revealed a number of control-display limitations which restttrrict aaaaaircraftt ussssefullness and effectiveness. Thisss studyyyyyyyy was instigated to thoroughly anaaaaaaaalyze exiiiiisting proooooooobllems and to recommend corrective action applicable to present and future multi-jet transports. A long range mission was investigated in detail by analytical techniques, leading to a logical progression of sensors, computers, able to present and future multi-jet transports. A long range mission was investigated in detail by analytical techniques, leading to a logical progression of sensors, computers, displays and controls required for the vehicle. Results of this study will serve as the basis for continuing refinement of the multi-jet transport control-display subsystem. Of even greater importance is the application of the systematic design approach to a proposed aircraft, thus setting a precedent and an example for control-display design of succeeding vehicles.
