TORSION OF A CIRCULAR CYLINDER IN COUPLE STRESS ELASTICITY.

Abstract

The equations of linear couple stress elasticity are applied to solve the torsion problem for a circular cylinder. It is found that the torsional rigidity of very fine wires will be greater than predicted by the classical theory of elasticity. (Author)
