THE ANALYSIS OF VARIABLE RELUCTANCE TRANSDUCERS: THE ENERGY METHOD.

Abstract

The operating equations of a variable reluctance transducer are derived in this report through the application of the conservation of energy principle. These equations are formulated in terms of the energy stored in the magnetic field. The basic equations are shown to be nonlinear, and a set of approximate linear equations is derived for a special class of inputs. The method is applied to a double field, double mass transducer as an illustrative example. This report and NRL Report 6088 are companion reports dealing with the derivation of the equations of variable reluctance transducers. (Author)
