IONIC PROPERTIES AND MOTIONS IN GASES AND LIQUIDS.

Abstract

Research was undertaken and completed on the following topics: formation of and secondary emission by Hg metastables; velocities of ions in liquefied gases (Ar and N2); mobilities of ions in hydrogen; mass spectrographic studies of H3+ and H5+ ions; reactions of nitrogen ions and molecules; velocities of ions in nitrogen; mobilities of Hg ions in Hg vapor. Partially completed are: velocities of ions in liquid He; combined mass spectrograph and mobility shutter tube. (Author)
