THE DEMAND FOR ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES. AN EXPERIMENT IN ECONOMETRIC METHOD,

Abstract

Consumers of alcoholic beverages pay higher taxes and are confronted by more extensive public controls than apply to any other major product. A thorough evaluation of the structure of taxes and controls, however, has not been made, since the aggregate characteristics of this market have been poorly understood. The study is designed to provide the basic quantitative framework for an evaluation of these programs. (Author)
