SELECTED HYGROMETRIC TABLES FOR LOW TEMPERATURES AND PRESSURES,

Abstract

Studies of the upper atmosphere of Earth and the atmospheres of other planets require a knowledge of the basic thermodynamic properties of water vapor under low ambient temperatures and pressures. Selected portions of the Smithsonian hygrometric tables have been extended through machine computations to meet this demand. The principal results are presented in easily usable form. In the first two tables is a tabular listing of the saturation water-vapor pressure over ice between temperatures of 100K and 200K. In the third table are listed the saturation mixing ratios of water vapor over ice between 125K and 270K for atmospheric pressures ranging from 700 mb to 10-5 mb. Finally, tabular and graphical presentations of saturation water-vapor pressures and mixing ratios are given for the 1962 U. S. Standard Atmosphere to an altitude of 99 km. (Author)
