A MILLIMETER WAVELENGTH FREQUENCY STANDARD.
Abstract
This report describes the development of a millimeter wavelength frequency standard. A very stable one gigacycle signal, generated by a crystal controlled oscillator, is harmonically multiplied in two stages resulting in a very stable signal in the 50 to 60 gigacycle frequency range. The first section includes an introduction to radio spectroscopy, the field of investigation in which the frequency standard can be most effectively used. In the second section theoretical aspects of harmonic generation are considered. The third and final section is a description of the frequency standard and an account of the investigations leading to its completion. (Author)
