ON IMPEDANCE MEASUREMENTS: THE DETERMINATION OF THE DOUBLE LAYER CAPACITANCE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN ELECTRODE REACTION; AND CAPILLARY RESPONSE AT A DROPPING MERCURY ELECTRODE.

Abstract

A solution film inside the capillary is the principal locus of shielding at a DME. A graphical method for obtaining the true double layer capacitance is presented, and a model is given which represents the electrical characteristics of the solution film. A graphical method is given for the determination of both the double layer capacitance and the faradaic impedance from impedance measurements in the presence of a faradaic process. (Author)
