A NOTE ON RANDOMIZED BRANCH SAMPLING,

Abstract

In this paper the author discusses the randomized branch sampling plans, indicates how and why they work, shows how the statistical idea behind these sampling plans is the same as the idea of importance sampling developed in Monte Carlo calculations, and suggests some refinements of Professor Jessen's method of estimating the fruit count on a tree by randomized branch sampling based upon their identity with importance sampling.
