THE ROLE OF THE MILITARY IN POST-STALIN SOVIET POLITICS,

Abstract

The death of Stalin, which ushered in a new era in Soviet history, and its effect on the military are discussed. The particular causes of the shift in the role of the military in Soviet affairs, increasing the political status and influence of the military leadership, are examined.
