SHARE -- A EULOGY TO COOPERATIVE EFFORT

Abstract

SHARE is described as a users cooperative. It is made up of most of the organizations who have, or plan on getting, an IBM Type 704 Electronic Data Processing Machine. Its aim is to eliminate, as much as possible, redundant effort expended in using the 704. The history of cooperative effort in the scientific computing field is discussed, and the history of SHARE itself is covered in detail.
