LIQUID LASER RESEARCH.

Abstract

Recent theoretical considerations indicate that low temperatures may greatly increase the possibility of observing stimulated emission for such compounds as benzophenone. Experiments on rigid solutions of benzophenone in EPA (ether, isopentane and ethyl alcohol in the volume ratio 5:5:2) were continued. On the preparative side a number of new plastic systems were made. Optical quality rods of cross-linked polymethyl methacrylate containing benzophenone, naphthalene and benzophenone/naphthalene mixtures at several concentrations were prepared. Experiments on incorporating organic rare-earth chelates into plastics were continued. The europium chelate of orthohydroxy benzophenone was synthesised.
