OPERANT LEARNING PRINICIPLES AND COC COMMUNICATION.

Abstract

It was suggested that one type of communication may be accounted for through the application of learning principles, in this case the principles of respondent conditioning and mediated generalization. In this discussion, verbal com munication is considered as the presentation of stimuli to a person, resulting in the formation of new S-R mechanisms, or the elicitation of previously acquired S-R mechanisms. Since the discussion is limited to certain types of verbal communication, either the stimulus or response involved, or both, are verbal.
