RESEARCH ON SYSTEMS DESIGN METHODOLOGY. VOLUME 2: EXTENSIONS OF CLASSICAL CALCULUS OF VARIATIONS METHODOLOGY.

Abstract

This report develops extensions of classical calculus of variations methodology to encompass a unified treatment of strong general variations within the framework of the Bolza problem. It is shown that general variations produce conditions, governing stationary solutions for the Bolza problem, which differ significantly from the results for classical 'special' variations. (Author)
