EQUATIONS OF MOTION FOR A GRAVITY-GRADIENT STABILIZED SATELLITE SUBJECT TO AMBIENT PERTURBING FORCES AND TORQUES,

Abstract

The three translational and three rotational equations of motion for a gravity-gradient stabilized satellite are derived. The effects of the earth oblateness, magnetic field, solar radiation, aerodynamic drag, and any control forces are included. The usefulness of vector, matrix, and dyadic notation for derivation of equations is demonstrated and the results reduced to scalar form wherever possible. (Author)
