A STUDY OF SYNTHESIS TECHNIQUES FOR OPTIMAL CONTROLLERS.

Abstract

This report is organized as follows. A general discussion of optimal control precedes a section devoted to the mathe matical aspects of optimization. Stochastic problems are taken up next and this is followed by a section on two-point boundary problems. In many cases the main problem is to find an extreme value of a function of several variables. There is a section describing methods for doing this. The sections on synthesis procedures, computational studies and conclusions complete the main portion of the report.
