Abstract
The objectives of the symposium were to collect relevant, detailed background information from examples of past counterinsurgency and unconventional warfare campaigns and to identify subjects suitable for further research. It was expected that such information, examined with the environments of those past campaigns firmly in mind, would suggest lessons for current and future air operations and when considered within the context of advanced technology, could provide guidance for future planning and hardware development.
