NUMERICAL STUDIES OF THE NAVIER-STOKES EQUATIONS.

Abstract

This report summarises work in progress at the Mathematics Research Center with regard to numerical solution of the time-dependent Navier-Stokes equations governing the flow of an incompressible viscous fluid. Two problems are considered in connection with flow in rectangular regions, one involving periodic boundary conditions, the other involving fixed and moving walls. In each case two methods of approach are investigated, one using finite differences, the other using Fourier series in the space variables. (Author)
