THE GEODETIC APPLICATIONS OF SATELLITES.

Abstract

This deals with the geodetic application of artificial satellites. In the geometric applications the determination of geocentric observing station coordinates is treated. In the dynamic applications the coefficients of the spherical harmonics explanation of the earth's gravity potential function are determined for the perturbation of the elements. From these coefficients the shape of the earth and other pertinent geodetic data may be determined. (Author)
