DETERGENCY: MICELLAR RELATIONSHIPS OF AN ANIONIC-NONIONIC SURFACTANT MIXTURE,

Abstract

The micellar characteristics of the mixed micelles formed by three ratios of an anionic - nonionic surfactant mixture was compared with the detergencies imparted by the three combinations to aqueous alkaline cleaning solutions of ca pH 12. It was found that detergency increases with increasing charge on, and number of anionic monomers in, the mixed micelle. Improved detergency appears to be connected to a reduction in micellar dissociation. (Author)
