COMPARATIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHODS OF IDENTIFYING TANTALUM AND NIOBIUM. II. APPLICATION OF ORGANIC REAGENTS,

Abstract

Studies were made of the absorption spectra of niobium and tantalum compounds which were used for the spectrophotometric identification of them. The inhibiting effect of several elements, which are associated with tantalum and niobium, was studied. According to the methods considered, it appears that the best one for the identification of niobium is the extractive thiocyanate method, and for the identification of tantalum -- the extractive method with the application of methyl violet.
