A REVIEW OF ALTERNATIVE APPROACHES TO INVENTORY THEORY.
Abstract
The study surveys the current state of inventory theory, and, so far as practical application is concerned, examines the usefulness and limitations of existing theoretical results. The report does not survey the actual techniques of inventory management employed by commercial or military organizations. We restrict our attention to inventory theory in the generally accepted meaning of the term: i.e., the analysis of problems associated with the control of stocks of physical goods at one or more locations and under various conditions.
