AN ESTIMATE OF THE TIME FOR A TRAIL TO DECAY TO A GAUSSIAN DISTRIBUTION,

Abstract

The radar signature of a hypersonic re-entry trail computed in an earlier work is considered. It is desired to investigate the time for a nongaussian distribution to decay to the gaussian form. To investigate this point it is desirable to make such assumptions as are required to permit a solution in closed form and yet not destroy all resemblance to reality. These assumptions and their meaning are specifically examined.
