STRESSES AND DEFORMATIONS OF THIN, PRESSURIZED CYLINDRICAL SHELLS,

Abstract

The report discusses a system of equations which is suitable for the analysis of thin, circular, cylindrical, elastic shells under the following assumption: The effect of internal pressure is of sufficient magnitude to make the bending stiffness of the shell walls unimportant for the load-carrying characteristics of the shell. Futhermore, it is assumed that deflections are small enough to allow use of a linearized system of equations. (Author)
